About Ms. Yates

My name is Rachel Yates and I am originally from a small town by the name of Morganfield in western Kentucky.  I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (P-5) from Berea College.  I taught a split 1st and 2nd grade class in Paris, KY for my first year teaching, and now I am at Wright for my second year.  I love teaching first grade!  First grade is an exciting year for children as they begin losing their teeth and learning how to tie their shoes.  Academically, they become wonderful readers and writers.  It is a joy watching all of these changes year after year.

Currently, I reside in Lexington with my cat Simon.  During my free time, I enjoy reading, folk dancing, spending time with friends, and traveling around the world!
